Spend some time on these scholarships, it never hurts to try! It is true that you may not win, but if you don’t apply then most likely you won’t win. :]
LIFE Lessons Scholarship Program
Due Date: 03/14/11 Award Amount: Varies
General Eligibility: The LIFE Foundation sponsors the LIFE Lessons Scholarship Program for college students and college-bound high school seniors who have experienced the death of a parent or legal guardian. To apply you must complete and submit an application, including an essay of no more than 500 words or a video entry of no more than 3 minutes.

Foothill Presbyterian Hospital Auxiliary
Due Date: 03/15/11 Award Amount: $1,000-$1,500
General Eligibility: This scholarship program is available to high school graduates and to college students who are majoring in a health career field. All applicants must be United States citizens and California residents.

Astronomy Program Scholarship
Due Date: 03/15/11 Award Amount: N/A
General Eligibility: To apply for this scholarship you must currently be enrolled at Mt. SAC and have successfully completed at least one astronomy course at Mt. SAC. Along with the scholarship application you must submit a copy of your Mt. SAC transcript, resume as stated in the guidelines, and a letter of recommendation from your astronomy instructor. You must also attach a essay on the topic “ With NASA’s impending halt to the space shuttle program, what should our approach to space exploration be?” as well as a statement on your involvement in astronomy on campus and in the community.

Mt. SAC Associated Student Book Scholarship
Due Date: 03/14/11 (7pm) Award Amount: Up to $250
General Eligibility: Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units; Have no more than 60 cumulative units completed; Have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA or be a first time college student; Be clear of all financial obligations to Mt. SAC; Have a current financial aid application on file at Mt. SAC (apply on-line at www.fafsa.gov) and be determined to have unmet need; and Have paid the Student Activities Fee for spring 2010.

Real Estate Endowment Fund Scholarship
Due Date: Open through 3/15/11 Award Amount: $800
General Eligibility: Real Estate Education Majors only. Applicants must satisfactorily complete at least one three-unit college course in Real Estate with a grade of C (2.0) or higher prior to applying for the scholarship. Applicants must complete 6 units (or the quarter equivalent) of Real Estate classes for each semester/quarter funded. Applicants must demonstrate minimum 2.0 cumulative G.P.A. for all college courses and must demonstrate financial need.

Railway Club of Southern California 2011 Annual Scholarship
Due Date: 03/28/11 Award Amount: $3,000
General Eligibility: Since 1996, the Railway Club of Southern California (RCSC) has been dedicated to promoting the diverse professions within the railroad industry and sponsoring fellowship among railroad professionals in the Southern California area. The RCSC will be awarding four $3000 scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students. Student must be an Undergraduate or graduate student who will be enrolled in Fall 2011 at a public or private higher education institution in Southern California (defined as Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, Ventura or San Diego counties) in a degree program which could lead to a career in the rail transportation industry. Have a Minimum 3.0 GPA and show interest in a profession in the rail transportation industry such as engineering, planning, or operations.

Citrus Valley Medical Center Auxiliary at Citrus Valley Medical Center
Due Date: 04/01/11 Award Amount: $1,000
General Eligibility: Scholarships are available for students enrolled in RN, LVN, or allied health programs at a community college or university. Students must be enrolled in the required course of study for a nursing or allied health program in a community college or university taking a minimum of 6 units. Have completed and included a transcript for least one semester or quarter of study in area requesting the scholarship and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for all college courses.

Incight Scholarships
Due Date: 4/01/11 Award Amount: Varies
General Eligibility: Incight’s Go-Getter Scholarship Program is our long-term commitment to students with disabilities who are entering or attending a community or state college, trade schools or online programs nationwide. Scholarships are renewable up to four years. This scholarship is available full time student with a documented disability, maintenance of passing grades and completion of entire application or renewal application.

Upland Woman’s Club Nursing Scholarship
Due Date: 04/01/11 Award Amount: $600
General Eligibility: Applicants must be a legal resident of the State of California for one year and enrolled as a full-time nursing student in an accredited Registered Nursing Program. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in order to qualify.

A.W. Bodine-Sunkist Memorial Scholarship
Due Date: 04/30/11 Award Amount: Varies
General Eligibility: The A.W. Bodine-Sunkist Memorial Scholarship was established in Memory of Arthur W. Bodine, a distinguished director of Sunkist Growers and a respected agricultural leader, to provide funds for undergraduate students from agricultural backgrounds who are in need of financial assistance to further their education. To be eligible for this award the applicant must have a background in California or Arizona agriculture (the student or someone in the student’s immediate family must have derived the majority of his or her income from agriculture); financial need; and a GPA and extracurricular activities indicative of potential for success. In addition, selection is based on a combination of college board test scores, an essay and references.

Lisa Davidson Memorial Scholarships
Due Date: 4/30/11 Award Amount: 2,500
General Eligibility: Since 1972, PIRATES has been sponsoring the Lisa Davidson Memorial Scholarship program for current sophomores and juniors majoring in communications, journalism, radio or television at a four-year Southern California college or university. This scholarship is named in memory of Lisa A. Davidson, a gifted public service coordinator at KNBC-TV and PIRATES member, who died tragically at a young age in an automobile accident. The purpose of this scholarship program is to recognize outstanding students who have excellent potential for improving the lives of people in Southern California through a communications career.

American Hotel & Lodging Education Foundation Scholarship
Due Date: 05/01/11 Award Amount: Varies
General Eligibility: So, there are a few requirements, but they’re pretty basic. Applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. program and pursuing higher education as a means to build a career in lodging, and with the exception of the Rama and Graduate Scholarships, you must be enrolled in a hospitality-related program, such as hotel/restaurant management, culinary arts, travel/tourism, or hotel administration. Each scholarship has additional requirements as well, so be sure to read them all before deciding which ones to apply for, but we have something for everyone. You’ll be evaluated on academics, related work experience, extracurricular
activities, financial need, honors, and personal attributes, but there’s no “cookie cutter” profile we’re looking for.

Laura Scudder Scholarship
Due Date: 5/6/11 Award Amount: $2,500
General Eligibility: The Historical Society of Monterey Park is honoring the memory of Laura Scudder, a Monterey Park entrepreneur of potato chip fame, by awarding two (2) $2,500 scholarships to students who are pursuing their education in an institution of higher learning and are currently enrolled in the field of nursing, culinary arts or business. In keeping with the spirit of Laura Scudder, John Scudder, requires the recipients to attend an accredited community college/culinary school located in the San Gabriel Valley (Mt. SAC included). Education Qualifications: 1) Must have completed a minimum of one (1) year of basic education courses necessary for completion of his/her chosen field at an institution of higher learning (please see attached list of participating colleges) and all applicants must attend a community college/culinary school located in the San Gabriel Valley (see attached list of eligible colleges) and must have maintained or exceeded the equivalent of a “C” average. (Copy of Official Transcripts from applicant’s current college must be provided with this application.); 2) Must be a citizen of the United States; and 3) Application must be accompanied by three (3) letters of recommendation from non-family members such as teachers, counselors; ministers, employers or friends. One letter must be from a current instructor of the applicant.

USC Norman Topping Scholarship

General Eligibility: The purpose of the Norman Topping Student Aid Fund (NTSAF) is to assist students with high financial need who demonstrate an extraordinary level of community awareness in their pursuit of higher education at the University of Southern California. Applicants residing in areas surrounding the University Park and Health Science campuses, in addition to first-generation college students, are given primary consideration in the selection process. General Eligibility: For the sixth consecutive year, SunTrust is pleased to offer the Off To College Scholarship Sweepstakes where students can win a $1,000 scholarship for education expenses at an accredited college or private career school. General Eligibility: The Big Dig Scholarship is available to high school seniors who will be entering their first year of college and students who are currently in their first or second year of college. You must submit an essay between 500 and 1000 words that answers the following issue: “In 200 years, one of your relatives is going to be digging in what is now your backyard. They are going to find something that you buried in 2011 and it is going to put any financial worries they have to rest. Your job today is to decide what to bury. Your goal is to find something that will have immense value in the future.” In addition, you must be a resident of the United States to qualify for this award.

Healthy Respect Win-Win Plus Scholarship

General Eligibility: The Healthy Respect Win-Win Plus Scholarship is open to current high school and college students who plan on attending or are currently attending a college or university in the United States. For this scholarship, three different themes with multiple scholarships are being offered. Participants may submit essays (or videos) for multiple topics. Neither merit nor financial need will be considered. The award will be based solely on completion of all required steps.

USC Latino Alumni Association Scholarship
Due Date: Will Open Soon Award Amount: $500-$3,500
General Eligibility: The USC Latino Alumni Association provides partial tuition aid grants to students that are currently attending or will be attending the University of Southern California for the 2011-2012 academic year. The scholarship is for students pursing Undergraduate and Graduate degrees at USC who have demonstrated a strong commitment to the Latino/Hispanic community. Students must be enrolled full-time in order to be eligible for the scholarship. In order to be considered full-time, undergraduate students must complete a minimum of 12 units per semester with a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and graduate students must complete a minimum of 8 units per semester with a cumulative 3.0 grade point average.
