For those of you who are in some need of cash for school, here are some scholarships that you can apply to.
Spend some time on these scholarships, it never hurts to try! It is true that you may not win, but if you don’t apply then most likely you won’t win. :]
Eula Mae Jett Scholarship Program
Due Date: 03/12/10 Award Amount: $1,000
General Eligibility: Applicants shall be restricted to students who are
residents of California that desire a career in the legal field, will have
completed at least one year of college by June of the school year, and who
will be enrolled in the Fall semester immediately following the school year
in a college or business school in a course of study in the legal field,
until all such courses have been taken to satisfy the requirements for a
degree or certificate in said legal related program. There is also a high
school and Re-Entry level award for those who do not meet the above

Raymond Jallow Awards for Public Service
Due Date: 03/13/10 Award Amount: $500
General Eligibility: The Raymond Jallow Awards for Public Service are
presented to two deserving candidates whose commitment to public service
reflects the life of the Awards’ namesake. A maximum of two $500 grants are
given annually to students and adults who are actively involved in or plan
to participate in public service. Examples of activities include preparing
for foreign service, clerking for a judge, running for office, and
specializing in public administration. Completed applications must be
received by March 13. Finalists will be chosen by the Review Committee of
the Arab American Institute Foundation.

Helen Abbott Community Service Award
Due Date: 03/14/10 Award Amount: $1,000
General Eligibility: The Helen Abbott Community Service Award is open to
undergraduate and high school students of Arab descent. You must
demonstrate exceptional interest and commitment to community service, have
at least a 3.0 GPA, and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to be
eligible for this award. An essay is required.

Lighthouse International Scholarship and Career Award
Due Date: 03/14/10 Award Amount: $5,000
General Eligibility: The Lighthouse International Scholarship and Career
Award is available to undergraduate and graduate students who are blind or
partially sighted. Applicants must be legally blind (i.e., have a best
corrected visual acuity of 20/200 or less in the better eye, and/or a
visual field of less than 20 degrees in the better eye). Scholarships are
based on academic and personal achievements. Therefore, candidates are not
required to demonstrate financial need. Applicants must be US citizens, and
reside in the United States or a US Territory. Applicants must attend an
accredited college or university in one of the 50 states, District of
Columbia or a US Territory.

Whittier Area California Retired Teachers Association Scholarship
Foundation Inc.
Due Date: 3/15/10 Award Amount: $1,500
General Eligibility: A candidate must provide proof of acceptance in or
continuing enrollment as an upper-division student at an accredited
institution of higher learning, on a full-time basis, with a minimum of 12
units per semester. For a current community college student, proof of
application to a four year college is needed; Evidence of a 3.0 GPA; Have a
stated goal of a Bachelor’s Degree with a teaching major; and be a legal
resident or citizen of the USA.

California Community Colleges Real Estate Endowment Fund Scholarship
Due Date: 3/15/10 Award Amount: $500
General Eligibility: Real Estate Education Majors Only. Applicants must
complete 6 units (or the quarter equivalent) of Real Estate classes for
each semester/quarter funded. Applicants must demonstrate minimum 2.0
cumulative G.P.A. for all college courses; have financial need or meet
income criteria.

Foothill Presbyterian Hospital Health Career Scholarship
Due Date: 3/15/10 Award Amount: $1,000 – $1,500
General Eligibility: Any high school or college student who has been
accepted to study at an accredited college, university, or technical
school. Applicants must be US Citizens and California residents. A 3.0 is
necessary in order to be competitive. A minimum of 12 units per semester
are required unless the applicant’s specialized major considers fewer units
as full time. To be eligible, applicants must follow all specific
instructions in application.

American Association of Airport Executives Scholarship
Due Date: 3/31/10 Award Amount: $1,000
General Eligibility: The AAAE Foundation grants ten $1,000 scholarships
each year to a number of students with a junior class standing or higher,
who are enrolled in an aviation program and have a grade point average 3.0
or higher. Eligibility is unrelated to membership in AAAE.

American Association of Airport Executives Scholarship for Native Americans
Due Date: 3/31/10 Award Amount: $1,000
General Eligibility: The AAAE Foundation grants $1,000 each year to a
number of Native American college or university students with a junior
class standing or higher, who are enrolled in an aviation program and have
a grade point average 3.0 or higher. Eligibility is unrelated to membership
in AAAE and the program is funded by a grant from the estate of Pete Hill,
A.A.E..

Casey Family Scholars Scholarship & Foster Care to Success Scholarships
Due Date: 3/31/10 Award Amount: Varies
General Eligibility: These scholarships are awarded based on a combination
of merit and need, and funding levels are determined based on cost of
attendance and other resources. Applicants must… 1. Have been in foster
care for one consecutive year at the time of their 18th birthday OR have
been adopted or taken into legal guardianship out of foster care or upon
the death of their parents after their 16th birthday OR have lost both
parents to death before the age of 18 and not been subsequently adopted or
taken into legal guardianship.; 2. Be enrolled in or accepted into an
accredited post-secondary program at the undergraduate level (university,
college, community college or vocational/technical institute; 3. Be under
the age of 25 on March 31, 2010; Have been in foster care or orphaned while
living in the United States. U.S. citizenship is not required.

General Eligibility: The AAAE Foundation is offering scholarships that will
be awarded to qualified college students who do not have to be a dependent
of an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.). The new “Competitive
Non-A.A.E. Scholarships” are for $1,000 each. These additional grants were
initiated as a way to broaden the eligibility of the scholarship program to
a wider range of family members, such as grandchildren, and also provide
opportunities for single active A.A.E.s who do not have dependents to
recommend for scholarships.

American Indian Scholarship
Due Date: 4/01/10 Award Amount: $1,000
General Eligibility: The American Indians Committee of the DAR awards this
scholarship to Native Americans and is intended to help Native American
students of any age, any tribe and in any state striving to get an
education. All awards are judged based on financial need and academic
achievement. Applicants must be Native Americans (proof of American Indian
blood is required by letter or proof papers) in financial need and have a
grade point average of 2.75 or higher.

Baldy View Retired Teachers Association Scholarship
Due Date: 4/01/10 Award Amount: $1,000
General Eligibility: The applicant must be a current community college
sophomore who intends to continue his/her education at an accredited
California college or university in 2010-2011with plans to become a public
school teacher at the elementary or secondary level. Recipient must be
enrolled in 12 units in September, 2009 to receive a full scholarship.
Partial scholarships may be available for part-time students. Recipient
must maintain a 3.00 grade point average. Recipient should participate in
activities that show leadership and character. Recipient must be a citizen
of the United States.

Military Spouse Scholarship
Due Date: 4/01/10 Award Amount: $1,000
General Eligibility: The Military Spouse Scholarship is available to the
spouses of Uniformed Services members who are enrolled in a post-
secondary, graduate, vocational, or technical school. GED, ESL, and online
students are also eligible to apply.

Mt. SAC Scholarship Program
Due Date: 4/01/10 Award Amount: Varies
General Eligibility: The Mt. SAC Scholarship Program offers nearly $200,000
in scholarships to Mt. SAC students each academic year. As scholarship
eligibility requirements vary, applicants must review the scholarship
brochure and determine which scholarship(s) they may be eligible for.
Students apply for scholarships in the spring of each year and funds are
available for their use during the following academic year. Only one
application is required.

Sylvia K. Burack Scholarship
Due Date: 04/01/10 Award Amount: $500
General Eligibility: The Sylvia K. Burack Scholarship is a writing contest
for full-time college students. The award is made in memory of Sylvia K.
Burack, longtime editor-in-chief and publisher of The Writer. Burack was
known for her dedication to helping writers and editors. To be considered,
you must submit a 600- 800 word unpublished essay on the following topic:
“Select a work of fiction or poetry that has influenced the way you view
the world and the way you view yourself. Discuss the work and explain how
it affected you.” You must be 18 or older and a full-time undergraduate
student at a university or college in the U.S. or Canada at the time of
entry. The winner will be asked to provide proof of enrollment.

Edward G. and Helen Borgens Elementary and Secondary Teacher Education
Scholarships
Due Date: 4/15/10 Award Amount: Up to $1,500
General Eligibility: Two one-time, preferred amount awards of up to $1,500
for students twenty-five (25) years of age or older. One award is given to
students studying to teach at the elementary school level, the other to
students studying to teach at the secondary level. All applicants must have
at least a 3.50 GPA, be at least a college sophomore, and attend or plan on
attending an accredited college or university. The award is based on
academic merit and is not automatically renewable; however, recipients may
reapply for consideration as long as they meet the eligibility
requirements.

Emily M. Hewitt Memorial Scholarship Fund
Due Date: 4/16/10 Award Amount: $1,000
General Eligibility: To provide a monetary award of $1,000.00 for a
promising upper division or graduate student who shows a commitment to
communicate and interpret a love of nature and an understanding of need to
practice conservation. Eligibility for application is extended to any
student or graduate student enrolled full-time in an accredited California
post-secondary educational institution whose educational career goals
clearly coincide with Emily’s interest in communicating and interpreting
nature’s wonder. Students pursuing degrees in environmental protection,
forestry, wildlife and fisheries biology, parks and recreation, park
management, environmental law and public policy, environmental art, and
California history are encouraged to apply.

Big Dig Scholarship
Due Date: 4/30/10 Award Amount: $3,000
General Eligibility: The Big Dig Scholarship is available to high school
seniors who will be entering their first year of college and students who
are currently in their first or second year of college. You must submit an
essay between 500 and 1000 words that answers the following issue: “In 200
years, one of your relatives is going to be digging in what is now your
backyard. They are going to find something that you buried in 2010 and it
is going to put any financial worries they have to rest. Your job today is
to decide what to bury. Your goal is to find something that will have
immense value in the future.” In addition, you must be a resident of the
United States to qualify for this award.

Golden Gate Restaurant Association Scholarship
Due Date: 4/30/10 Award Amount: $1,000 – $6,500
General Eligibility: California residents who attend a college or
university full-time; and have
completed at least one semester as a foodservice major and have been
accepted for the following academic term; and: Attend an educational
institution operating under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c )(3), or an
institution approved by the Trustees of the GGRASF; and Have maintained a
minimum of 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale. OR California residents who attend a
college or university part-time; and work in the foodservice or hospitality
industry at least 20 hours per week; and have completed at least one
semester as a foodservice major and have been accepted for the following

Laura Scudder Scholarship
Due Date: 5/7/10 Award Amount: $2,500
General Eligibility: The Historical Society of Monterey Park is honoring
the memory of Laura Scudder, a Monterey Park entrepreneur of potato chip
fame, by awarding two (2) $2,500 scholarships to students who are pursuing
their education in an institution of higher learning and are currently
enrolled in the field of nursing, culinary arts or business. In keeping
with the spirit of Laura Scudder, John Scudder, requires the recipients to
attend an accredited community college/culinary school located in the San
Gabriel Valley (Mt. SAC included). Education Qualifications: 1) Must have
completed a minimum of one (1) year of basic education courses necessary
for completion of his/her chosen field at an institution of higher learning
(please see attached list of participating colleges) and all applicants
must attend a community college/culinary school located in the San Gabriel
Valley (see attached list of eligible colleges) and must have maintained or
exceeded the equivalent of a “C” average. (Copy of Official Transcripts
from applicant’s current college must be provided with this application.);
2) Must be a citizen of the United States; and 3) Application must be
accompanied by three (3) letters of recommendation from non-family members
such as teachers, counselors; ministers, employers or friends. One letter
must be from a current instructor of the applicant.

B. Davis Scholarship
Due Date: 5/28/10 Award Amount: $1,000
General Eligibility: This Scholarship is available to all high school
juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any
post secondary institution who are between the ages of 16 and 30. Be sure
to include your name and the school you are attending this year and next.
This is not an academic scholarship but we would like to know your current
academic standing.

CBC Spouses Education Scholarship
Due Date: 6/01/10 Award Amount: Varies
General Eligibility: This scholarship fund was established in response to
federal cuts in spending for education programs and scholarships. This is
the foundation’s first educational program. The CBC Spouses Educational
Scholarship is a national program that awards scholarships to academically
talented and highly motivated students who intend to pursue full-time
undergraduate, graduate or doctoral degrees. Students must have a minimum
2.5 GPA, exhibit leadership ability and participate in community service
activities, and reside or attend school in a congressional district
represented by a CBC member.

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program

General Eligibility: The A&F Scholarships are available to all high school
juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any

30. To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay on the

Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship

General Eligibility: The Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship is open to
9th-12th grade high school students, college students or graduate school

must plan to enroll in a higher education program within 12 months.

may be used for tuition, room and board, books or any related educational

Lifetime Adoption Foundation Scholarship
Due Date: Varies Award Amount: Unspecified
General Eligibility: The Lifetime Adoption Foundation Scholarship is
available to birth mothers that have placed a child for adoption any time
after 1990. You must be able to present verification of finalization from
the adoption professional that handled the adoption. Women considering
adoption may apply and receive assistance with adoption related expenses or
help in finding an adoptive family. Women that have placed a child for
adoption through Lifetime Adoption Center are given priority. In addition,
you must be drug-free, have a current “C” GPA, and show proof of part or
full-time enrollment, or intention of enrollment in an accredited
educational or trade institution to be eligible for this award. You should
